Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in P17 as his team ran a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he lost control at Turn Four early in the session.
The Japanese spun out over the curbs on exit before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
